Detailed 8 days Uganda safari itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Kisoro to Fortportal
In the morning after breakfast, you will make a transfer from Kisoro to Fortportal where you will have a cultural tour at different places like Omukamas palace, Karambi tombs and the historical Mabeere ga Nyinamwiru. Fortportal also provides beautiful views of several features like tea and banana plantations, magnificent Rwenzori ranges and the amazing crater lakes. The night will be spent at any hotel of your choice in the town.
Day 2: Transfer to Gulu
Wake up for your delicious breakfast and prepare for the transfer to Gulu town. During the drive, pass through Murchison falls national park and enjoy different sightings like wildlife species, plantations, waterfalls, Baker’s fort and many others. For dinner and overnight, you will book a lodge/hotel in Gulu town.
Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo valley national park
After breakfast at the lodge in Gulu, you will proceed with the drive to Kidepo valley national park in Karamoja region. The park is known for hosting various bird species and the hot springs and also a number of wildlife species. The drive from Gulu to Kidepo takes approximately 5 hours and upon the arrival, you will camp at the camping sites of the park for overnight
Day 4: Full day game drive
Wake up for your breakfast and drive through the park savannah plains for a game viewing experience. The park is known for hosting several animals like elephants, zebras, buffalos, leopards, hartebeests, Rothschild Giraffes, side backed jackal and others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for an evening game drive.
In the afternoon, you will drive back for another game drive where you will have more sightings including the hot springs of Kanangorok, the giant ostriches and more wildlife species. After, you will drive back to the camp for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Moroto
Set off from Kidepo valley national park to Moroto town in northeastern Uganda after your breakfast. Moroto is known for several sightings including the thrilling views of Mount Moroto and the ranges of other nearby mountains, exciting bird species, and others. A night will be at any hotel/lodge in Moroto.
Day 6: Cultural experience
Wake up for a beautiful breakfast and go for a cultural experience in the traditional villages of the town. Among the cultural people to visit include the Karimojong who will entertain you through their dances, music, stories and poems. You will also learn a lot from these people like preparing local foods, making different designs from crafts and others. From here, you can buy some souvenirs from the locals and later proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Sipi falls
In the morning after breakfast, depart from Moroto town driving to Sipi falls in Kapchorwa. In the drive, expect to have an enroute lunch and arrive at the falls in the late afternoon hours. Check in at your lodge of booking for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Hike Sipi falls and transfer to Jinja
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to Sipi falls offices where you will get a guide for the hike. Sipi falls has 3 falls at Mount Elgon that range at 85m, 75m, and 100meters. You can opt to hike all the 3 falls depending on your physical fitness and choose to visit 2 or one. In the afternoon, you will make a transfer to Jinja district.
Day 9: Transfer to Mbarara
In the morning after breakfast, you will prepare for a long drive from Jinja district to Mbarara. You will have an enroute lunch and you will have beautiful sightings like views of mountain ranges, plantations, and many others. You will spend a night at the lodge of your booking in Mbarara.
Day 10: Transfer to Kisoro
Wake up with a relaxed morning breakfast at the lodge and later prepare for a set off from Mbarara to Kisoro.
