10 Days Tanzania Wildlife Safari – Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania

Day 1- Arrival at Arusha International Airport.

Upon arrival you will be picked by our driver who will take you to the hotel for some relaxation after the long trip to Tanzania.

 

Dinner and overnight at Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Day 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

You will be picked up by our Driver/Guide and start your safari, Proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive with Picnic Lunch.

On your Lake Manyara Game Drive 

The park is truly a photographer’s playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa’s most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular treat. These proud predators lounge in acacia trees practically begging to be photographed.

Bird-watchers will find Lake Manyara is an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park. Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly coloured lilac breasted roller.

 

After the excitements of the day, you will head to Karatu for dinner and overnight at the accommodation of your choice.

Day 3: Lake Manyara- Serengeti

After breakfast proceed to Serengeti National Park through Ngorongoro Conservation area with a game Drive along the way.

On your Ngorongoro Transit to Serengeti

The scenic drive towards the Serengeti. Along the way, we’ll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to glimpse cape buffalo, baboons, or even elephants and leopards in the dense undergrowth.

It’s a nearly four-hour drive to the Serengeti Park gates, but you can choose to break up the drive with one or both of the below optional activities:

On your Serengeti Central Game Drive

You will spot thousands upon thousands of animals in herds; wildebeests and zebras migrating together, tall and graceful giraffes, jumping antelopes and gazelles, the powerful African elephant and the most respected group of the predators.

You will have the chance to spot lean cheetahs and shy leopards, foraging hyenas, and last but not least, the king himself; the lion.

After the thrills of the day, you will head to your accommodation of choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Serengeti Central – Serengeti North

After breakfast, you will proceed to the Serengeti North in search of the wildebeest migration and wildcats.

On your Serengeti Central to North Game Drive, we will drive across the plains of Togoro and through the Mbuzi Mawe kopjes (small hills) as we make our way into the park’s northern reaches. Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to see the Serengeti’s diverse scenery as you pass through wooded hills, tumbledown kopjes, and the wide open savannah. Your drive will show you everything from the diminutive dik-dik to towering elephants and giraffes.

Later head to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 &6 : Full Day Serengeti North

Explore the Wildebeest Migration. On your Full Day Serengeti North Game Drive The Lobo Hills are covered in large acacia trees which support large amounts of elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, and the carnivores that prey on them. It’s a fascinating opportunity to see a large number of Africa’s most iconic animals in a relatively small amount of time. From here we’ll proceed to the Bologonja and Wogatende areas where we will eventually meet the Mara River itself. Home to large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, the Mara River is the last major obstacle standing between the Wildebeest Migration and the relative safety of the Masai Mara. If you’re patient and a little lucky, you may even get to witness the death-defying crossing itself where wildebeest and zebras brave the river’s currents and crocodiles in an attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank.

Day 7: Serengeti North -Central

Enjoy another day of exploring the Serengeti National Park while driving from Kogatende to Seronera Area.

Your driver will lead you through the park on a different route than the one you used on Day 3. You will have a chance to see the various vegetation that inhibit Serengeti National Park together with the famous wild animal that call these plains their home.

After the thrills of the day, you will head to your accommodation of choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park-Ngorongoro

Explore the Serengeti National Park before proceeding with a game drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Afterwards proceed on a Drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Our drive takes us back through the Serengeti via a different route, offering plenty of opportunities to spot the animals that eluded you on day two. As far as the eye can see, you’ll spot thousands upon thousands of animals in herds; wildebeests and zebras migrating together, tall and graceful giraffes, jumping antelopes and gazelles, the powerful African elephant and the most respected group of animals: the predators.

You will have the chance to spot lean cheetahs and shy leopards, foraging hyenas, and last but not least, the king himself; the lion.

Later you will head to the accommodation of your choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ngorongoro

Considered by some to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. When you get your first glimpse of this vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint, you’ll soon understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation.

Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It’s a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water. From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you’ll be able to observe and photograph some of Africa’s most recognizable faces. The crater is home to a large number of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and more. It is truly one of Africa’s premier safari destinations.

 

After the excitements of the day you will head to your accommodation of your choice.

Dinner and overnight Tarangire Sopa

 

Day10: Tarangire National Park – Arusha

Once inside the park, you’ll see the eponymous Tarangire river lined with acacia and Baobab where game amble to and fro throughout the day. During the dry season, thousands of animals from the Masai steppe migrate to the Tarangire region looking for water so you can see dozens of different species in a small amount of time.

Exclusive to the park are endangered animals such as the Greater Kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx, and the Ashy Starling.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s picnic areas and take in an unparalleled view of the Tarangire River. Keep an eye on your food though, as the local monkey population will be only too happy to make off with a tasty treat if given the opportunity!

 

Afternoon proceed back to Arusha.
